How To Win The War On Debt Introduction ~ Debt ~ Steward ~ Money Management

How to Win The War On Debt - Introduction

I dedicate this manual to my deceased wife, Gale, who was my source of encouragement and inspiration for over 25-years. She has been an answer to my prayers, and I thank God for blessing me with her. She is exceedingly and abundantly more than what I could have asked for or even thought of (Ephesians 3:20). I thank God for the way he masterfully plans everything in our lives. And, I thank God that he does answer prayers and makes our hearts desires come true in better ways than what we would have done for ourselves, even when we try to be our own god.

I also give thanks to my deceased mother for her steadfast witness all of my life. She has always been a Saint. She has taught me so much about life that has shaped my values and I appreciate her and love her. Her prayers have protected me all of my life. I recommend that you also get on your knees and pray for your children and grand children. Your prayers could save their lives.

We sometimes think that we are our own god, and we try to fix everything ourselves, and we often fail miserably. The purpose of this book is to help those who have gotten off track with their finances. To help you regain control of your financial destiny and to trust in the one who created everything in this world. Everything belongs to God, He is even responsible for the income that you earn now. We are mere stewards or managers of what God owns.

I've been down the road of financial difficulties that many of you are facing; overwhelming medical bills, using the credit cards as a money source to keep afloat, bankruptcy, divorce, losing my home, bounced checks, credit cards taken away, not able to pay my bills, deferments on student loans, deferments on auto loans, and flat broke. I remember thinking that things looked so bad that I couldn't see any way that I will ever get out of this mess. My heart was broken. I felt like I was such a failure to my previous wife and my children that life was not worth living. I was so broken that I cried myself to sleep many nights.

It took me seven years to get out from under the burden of debt left from the bankruptcy because I kept as much debt as I could possibly pay for. Today I am totally out of debt except for my home. However, I still carry the shame of letting myself get to the point of bankruptcy even though it happened over thirty years ago.

It was not a quick fix as some have said that it would be, and I do not recommend it to anyone. Initially, it kept me from getting certain jobs I was qualified for, as well as new checking accounts, loans, credit cards, and for life insurances. I was treated as if I were a criminal as I was escorted out of two different banks just for trying to open a checking account.

The bankruptcy was a long time ago and the bankruptcy stayed on my credit report for 14-years. The good thing about this is today the creditors don't look down their noses at me anymore. My personal credit score says around over 800 and bankers no longer refuse to let me open a checking account or get a loan. I've been faithful to God, and He has restored me in spite of many losses.

My prayer is that this manual will be of help to you "Win Your War on Debt". I'm glad that I went through the troubles that I have had. God did not cause these difficulties, but it has taught that God does know what I am going through and that he does care. He does answer prayers of those who wait patiently on his handy work and trust in Him to deliver them. If I had not gone through this I would still be trusting in my own abilities, I was my own god. Satan was out to steal, kill, and destroy me, but my Heavenly Father delivered me through those difficult times.

God is very near to those that are hurting and suffering loss. The rich very seldom need Him therefore have little need to trust Him. Jesus spent his time on earth ministering to those in need. He is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. He has time for you, He has been waiting for you to look to Him. Call upon His name and believe that HE IS ABLE to deliver you just as He did Job, just as He did me, and just as he will you.
